Ullswater is the second biggest lake in Cumbria and has a variety of course and game fish but for the wild brown trout enthusiast the lake is known for some hard fighting fish around the half pound mark with plenty of bigger fish caught especially during the spring and may fly season. Traditional loch stylefishing pulling teams of three wet flies are the favoured tactics. Boats are available to rent and for the visitor a guide is probably going to be a good investment.
